The Leonardt Principal is a favorite of many calligraphers, including Michael Sull. Extra-fine and very flexible, the Principal produces fine hairlines and healthy swells, and glides across textured surfaces like a dream. Modeled on the rare vintage Principality No. 1, this nib was produced with the expert advice of lettering artists and is a fine choice for many styles: Copperplate, Spencerian, modern calligraphy, and more. Bronze finish. This nib is ideal for intermediate or advanced level calligraphers and is not recommended for beginners.

Ornamental/spencerian
My go to nib for Spencerian and ornamental penmanship.

Leonardo EF
I’m new to Copperplate script and this nib works great for it. I normally use the Brause EF66 for modern script, but the Leonardt EF principal really makes a difference for the hairlines and shading. It’s not too stiff and not too flexible.

Principal Leonardt extra fine nib
Beat nib to work with. Gives the fine lines and doesn’t catch on the paper. Love it!
